FORMER Chelsea and Everton assistant Joe Edwards has been named as England's Under-20s Head Coach for 2023.

England have announced their men’s development coaches for the 2023/24 international campaign and Edwards will lead the U20s in the Elite League. The 36-year-old worked at Chelsea's Academy for two decades before assisting Frank Lampard with the Blues and Everton.

Elsewhere, Lee Carsley will lead his reigning U21 EURO champions into another qualifying cycle with the intention of reaching the 2025 edition in Slovakia. Simon Rusk continues with the U19s as they strive for qualification to the 2024 U19 EUROs in Northern Ireland having missed out last summer.

Ryan Garry moves to the U18s, having led the same playing group with the U17s, and Greg Lincoln moves across an age group to take charge of the U17s.

Neil Ryan will oversee the U16s and Will Antwi continues as U15s Head Coach. Tom Curtis, Andy Edwards, Ben Futcher and Stuart Delaney will assist across the pathway, while there is further coaching support through the FA and PFA’s joint England Elite Coach Programme (EECP).

The programme was introduced in 2017 to create opportunities for coaches from historically under-represented groups. Peterborough United’s PDP & U21 Lead Jamal Campbell-Ryce continues in support of the U17s, while Emile Heskey and Fulham YDP coach Callum Martin will join the support staff of the U18s and U15s respectively.

FA Head of Coaching Tim Dittmer said: “Following last season’s endeavours across our development teams, it has been good to reflect and plan how we continue to provide our England players the best possible experiences over the coming season.

"As a group of national coaches, we strive to achieve this across all activities with the players, their families, and associated clubs. We have exciting UEFA and FIFA competitions to look forward to, as well as carefully designed activities across all other events for our players to experience, perform and compete in.

"We hope to build on and complement the excellent work our young English talent is experiencing at their respective clubs as they strive to carve out successful careers in football or other paths they may take.”
