Kyriakos Dourekas has stepped down as Nottingham Forest’s Director of Football after “five years of exceptional service.”
He joined Forest in December 2018, having worked under owner Evangelos Marinakis at his other club, Olympiacos, for the previous 26 years.
Dourekas has also served on Forest’s Board since March 2022. He described his role as providing a “vital connection between the Boardroom and the Team Operations” and “safeguarding the medium to long-term interests of the football club rather than focusing solely on short-term objectives.”
In April 2023, Forest appointed Ross Wilson as Sporting Director, with those same medium to long-term objectives.
Forest announced Dourekas's exit on their official website, thanking him for “five years of exceptional service.”
He said: “I have had five special years with Nottingham Forest and I am incredibly grateful to Mr Evangelos Marinakis and Mr Miltiadis Marinakis for their belief in me and the support they have provided during my time at both Olympiacos FC and Nottingham Forest.
“We dreamed of returning to the Premier League, and we achieved that dream after 23 challenging years away. Our dedicated players, coaches, technical staff and administrative staff who have been with us over the years made this accomplishment possible.
“Most importantly, we owe this success to our extraordinary fans, who welcomed my family and I to Nottingham. I am deeply thankful for their unwavering support.
“While moving on to new challenges, I will always cherish my time at Nottingham Forest and forever hold a special place in my heart for Olympiacos FC.”
