DAVE CAROLAN has been appointed first-team performance coach at Millwall, meaning he is reunited with manager Gary Rowett and Technical Coach Joe Carnall.

The trio worked together at Birmingham, Derby and Stoke, and appeared together in Episode #1 of the TGG Podcast (which you can listen to below) in April 2019.

Carolan is one of the most experienced practitioners in English football and this will be his sixth full-time club role in a career spanning more than 20 years. He started out as a sports scientist at Norwich City in 1998.

At The Den he will work alongside Head of Performance Laurence Bloom and Lead Sports Scientist Perry Blanchette. Carolan has already been working for the club in a consultancy capacity since January 2020, while working full-time for Edge 10 as Head of EMEA.

Rowett talked about the strength of his relationship with Carolan and Carnall in the TGG Podcast.

“There’s that element of trust, because we’ve worked together for a long time,” he said. “And also, if you’re together - I was going to say 9 to 5, but it’s more like 7 to 6 - then sometimes you’ve got to have a bit of a laugh. We've always managed to do that too.”
