Buvac reaches settlement with Liverpool

LIVERPOOL assistant Zeljko Buvac has now officially left the club - more than eight months after walking out on the eve of their Champions League semi-final against Roma.
The Reds have confirmed that they have agreed a settlement with the Bosnian-Serb, who had worked with manager Jurgen Klopp since 2001.
In April, Buvac left Liverpool just three days before their Champions League semi-final second leg against Roma.
His relationship with Klopp had become strained, although the club said, in a statement: "Zeljko is spending some time away from the first-team environment, between now and the end of the season, for personal reasons. Zeljko remains a Liverpool employee and his position at the club is not affected by this absence."
Buvac first started working with Klopp at Mainz and moved with him to Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. When the manager was given a six-year contract extension by the Reds in 2016, he insisted that his two assistants - Peter Krawietz being the other - were given the same length of contract.
Buvac has been nicknamed ‘the brain’ and was renowned for his tactical acumen. Pep Lijnders, who returned to the club in June after being sacked as manager of NEC Nijmegen, has replaced Buvac as Klopp’s assistant.
