Burnley, Palace and Leeds forced to wait to go Cat 1

BURNLEY, Crystal Palace and Leeds United will almost certainly have to wait another season to be elevated to Category 1 status, as all audits have been delayed indefinitely as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
At a Premier League meeting on Friday, it was decided that all audits would be delayed until further notice.
Burnley, Palace and Leeds have all applied to be promoted to Category 1 status, having all invested in and improved their Cat 2 Academies. Elevation to the top level would mean they would be able to attract better players, retain them and receive more money from the EPPP system, funded by the Premier League, Football League and Football Association.
If the clubs cannot be audited this season - as is looking increasingly likely - then they will remain in Category 2 for the remainder of 2020/21, before being re-audited and potentially re-categorised in 2021/22.
