Norwich City have hired Brighton’s Nick Stanley to become their new Set Piece and First Team Coach.

Stanley replaces Andrew Hughes, who left earlier this summer to work with Steve Cooper at Leicester City. The coach leaves Brighton after 12 years' service.

He started with them as an intern in July 2012 and rose up the ranks to become Lead Performance Analyst and then Set Pieces Coach - the club's first - in July 2019.

Sporting Director Ben Knapper, who joined the Canaries in November 2023, is building a new staff and structure behind the scenes at Carrow Road.

This has included new Head Coach Johannes Hoff Thorup and Assistant Glen Riddersholm, although the other changes are being driven by the Sporting Director rather than the Head Coach, as would be the case at many clubs.

Knapper said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Nick to the club. He comes with some great experiences at a fantastic club in Brighton & Hove Albion, where he has worked alongside some top-class coaches.

“He will really help drive our set piece process forward as a real specialist in that area, and he can also support the broader coaching group in all aspects of team and individual development.

“We’re all excited to welcome Nick into our club and to start working with him to achieve our goals.”

Norwich City Sporting Director Ben Knapper will be speaking at TGG Live in September.
