BRENTFORD Technical Director Robert Rowan has died from heart failure at the age of 28, the club has announced.

Rowan, who had been at the club for four years, died on Monday.

“All at the Club have been left devastated by the news,” Brentford said in a short statement. “All our thoughts are with Robert’s wife, his family and all his friends – many of whom work at Brentford FC.”

Writing on Twitter, chief executive Mark Devlin added: “We are all simply devastated with this news. Rob was a terrific man and a great character around the Club.

“We will all miss him greatly & will do all we can to support Rob’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Our deepest condolences go to all of Rob’s family and friends.”

Fife-born Rowan joined the Bees in late 2014 and was promoted to Technical Director in February this year. Before moving to London, he was Sporting Director at Stenhousemuir and had worked as an analyst and scout for both Celtic and the Scottish Football Association.
