Francisco Belo has left Wolves after three-and-a-half years to become the new Head of Sports Data Insights at Nottingham Forest.
He will lead the club’s Data Analytics department, supporting the data strategy across the First Team, Academy and Women’s teams “to improve performance and create efficiencies.”
Belo replaces Dan Morris, who was Head of Data Insights at Forest for two years but has now returned to Swansea City, his previous club, where he will have the title Head of Data.
Belo, who is from Portugal, joined Wolves in January 2021 as their First Team Football Research and Methodology Analyst. The innovative role involved developing a “best-practice framework” and delivering trend and research analysis about Wolves’ performance, the performance of rivals in the Premier League and wider global trends.
The move to the City Ground reunites Belo with Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo, with whom he worked at Wolves for several seasons.
Belo also supported First Team pre and post-match analysis. Prior to Wolves, he was a Technical Coaching Analyst at Everton for six years.
Writing on LinkedIn, he said: “I have been incredibly lucky to work for such a great club and alongside an amazing group of people. Over the last four seasons, I spent so much of my life in and around Wolverhampton, and I genuinely loved it! What a place to learn and grow!
“I’m excited for the new challenge ahead and can’t wait to get started!”
