Arsenal and Tottenham re-open training grounds

ARSENAL and Tottenham have re-opened their training grounds for players to use for individual sessions.

The Gunners were the first to make a move, with players returning to London Colney from Monday April 27th, with Spurs going back to their Hotspur Way Training Centre a day later.

The Premier League had advised clubs not to re-commence training until May 18th, but both clubs are returning on a restricted basis.

Arsenal said: "Access will be limited, carefully managed and social distancing will be maintained. All Colney buildings remain closed. Players will travel alone, do their individual workout and return home."

Last week, the club spoke to players after Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz, Nicolas Pepe and Granit Xhaka were pictured breaking social distancing guidelines.

Lacazette was pictured close to someone valeting his car, Luiz and Xhaka were having a kickabout in a park and Pepe was seen playing football with some friends.

The quartet, along with the rest of the Gunners squad, were reminded of their responsibilities.

Tottenham are making “a number of pitches” available to players at Hotspur Way from Tuesday.

The club said: "From [Tuesday], the club shall be making a limited number of pitches available at our training centre for members of our first-team squad to use for individual running sessions on a strict rotational basis.

"No more than one player per pitch will be permitted at any one time to undertake on-pitch exercise, with only a restricted number of the squad coming to the training centre each day.

"Each player will travel independently and arrive at the facilities already dressed in training wear before returning home immediately after they have concluded their session."

UK government guidelines are that you can only exercise on your own or with people you live with. If you have to go outside, you should stay at least two metres apart from anyone other than members of your own household.
