Arsenal hire Team Sky exec to deal with contracts

ARSENAL have hired Hussein Fahmy from Team Sky to deal with their player contracts.
Fahmy, who has been Commercial and Business Affairs Director with Team Sky since June last year, began working for Arsenal last week.
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis promised a restructure of the football side of the business following the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League last season. Dealing with player contracts has been identified as a key area that needs addressing.
Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Wojciech Szczesny and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all entering the final year of their contracts.
It is unclear whether Fahmy will also be involved with contract negotiations for potential signings, which is currently done by Dick Law and Gazidis, but has again been identified as an area of weakness. Fahmy dealt with contracts from start to finish at Team Sky and has an impressive background.
He initially completed a Sports Science and Management degree at Loughborough University, before converting to law.
Fahmy worked for legal firm Herbert Smith Freehills and joined Sky in April 2010, initially with their Entertainment arm, where he was involved in the acquisition of programmes.
A year later he moved over to Sky Sports, helping to negotiate and purchase sports rights - a notoriously tricky endeavour. In May 2014, he joined Team Sky as first Head of Legal and Commercial, before being promoted to Commercial and Business Affairs Director last year.
